donateIn partnership with Feeding San Diego (FSD), we built a dashboard to revolutionize food distribution across San Diego County. By identifying underserved communities, we help ensure food reaches those who need it most.
Since launching our dashboard, the food bank has improved resource allocation, developed a deeper understanding of food insecurity, and built stronger donor relationships.
We are collaborating with the Jacobs Center for Health Innovation in transforming patient outcomes and surgical supply management at the University of California San Diego Health. We analyzed surgical equipment usage data to develop a model trained and tested in three surgical specialties (urology, surgical oncology, and colorectal surgery). It predicted a decrease in hospital waste, increasing operational savings and improving the patient experience.
In partnership with MTN.AI and Nemsee LLC, we developed a framework for medical AI companies building products that mitigate bias and risk for health systems with ever-evolving AI ethics policies.
From phishing scams to identity theft, the internet is full of scammers, fake websites, and security threats. That's why we created an interactive curriculum and workbook for people of all ages. Our workshops teach practical skills to protect personal information and confidently navigate the online world.
Through immersive storytelling and gameplay, our video game takes players to a magical world of wizards, kings, and enchanting creatures, where they are introduced to data science and the importance of fairness, transparency, privacy, and veracity.
We collaborated with EyePop.ai, a San Diego-based company making it easier for businesses to build custom computer vision models (AI focused on visual interpretation of images or videos). Led by our data science team, our student interns advanced several of EyePop.ai's key projects, including dataset annotation, feature testing, and recommended best practices based on our Responsible Data Science Framework. We brought several models to life, provided invaluable customer-focused perspectives, and empowered EyePop.ai users to approach projects with ethics, transparency, and fairness in their image-based models.
Connect is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering life science and technology companies through each stage of growth with its expertly curated programs and events. Through our data aggregation, we validated that 53% of startups in San Diego had women and/or BIPOC representation in executive leadership. This information was published in their 2024 annual impact report, promoting Connect as a key driver of economic growth throughout San Diego.
We are honored to be trusted by fellow nonprofits with their data projects, including a world-renowned zoo dedicated to wildlife health, education, and conservation. Leveraging the talents of our student interns and volunteers, we harnessed the zoo's database to develop a predictive model that bolsters its fundraising operations.
